OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE

The overall objective of the 1st National Water Resources Development Conference is to launch the NWRDP and initiate a country wide dialogue on the sustainable development of the water sector. The conference aims to achieve the following:

Serve as a platform for the government to officially launch the National Water Resources Development Plan (NWRDP);

Ensure unified and politically endorsed government support for the successful implementation of the NWRDP;

Offer an opportunity for both international and national partners to commit to the NWRDP’s implementation and align their ongoing and planned projects with the national plan;

Facilitate civil society organizations—representing CBOs, the private sector, and professionals—to engage and take responsibility for the sustainable development of Somalia’s water sector;

Foster the exchange of innovative ideas and solutions among key stakeholders, including the private sector, NGOs, and those directly involved in water sector development and project delivery;

Provide a platform for new graduates and young professionals to participate in knowledge exchange and discussions that contribute to the growth of Somalia’s water sector;

Explore models for public-private cooperation, grounded in shared commitments to implement the national disaster management framework.
